Eslicarbazepine Acetate is a prodrug which gets activated to Eslicarbazepine (S-Licarbazepine), an active metabolite of Oxcarbazepine. It is a 3rd generation Anticonvulsant as well as Antiepileptic. drug licensed as an adjunctive treatment for partial onset seizure. Eslicarbazepine Acetate blocks the voltage gated Na+ ion channel, which inhibits repetitive firing , stabilize hyper excited neuronal membrane and decrease the release of synaptic impulse making brain cells remain less excitable
